Everyone loves the Land of the Rising Sun, and with foliage and ski seasons coming up, you might be looking for where to visit in Japan. Below are some great ideas. (Note: list non-comprehensive; we’ve got way more!)
OK, you’ve probably heard the news: the JR Pass is getting more expensive and people are up in arms! Quick info if you’re wondering why: The JR (Japan Rail) Pass is specially discounted train pass for foreign visitors that can be used for unlimited travel across the six companies of the JR Group, including the famous shinkansen (bullet trains). It must be purchased before your trip or as soon as you arrive in the country. And comes, in the parlance of planes, in first class and economy.
JR Pass used to be one of the most economical ways to see Japan, but with prices almost doubling, tourists are panicked. The thing is, our reporter insists that the JR Pass is still worth the price of admission–especially if you plan properly, head to off-beat places, and in general love the romance of train travel.
