Regent Phu Quoc Celebrates First Anniversary with Multisensory Regent Taste Studio Event

Visit this month to experience Regent Taste Studio’s 7-chapter immersive dining event.

REGENT, LONG KNOWN FOR ITS history of luxury-hospitality innovation (two-sink bathrooms? Regent says you’re welcome) successfully reinvented itself a couple of years ago and now, the trailblazing brand is leveling up again with its multi-sensory concept, Taste Studio. The studio’s first official event — after a successful pop-up in Singapore —  is at Regent Phu Quoc this month in honor of the resort’s first birthday.

Taste Studio is a groundbreaking example of a new kind of high-end dining. Its cross-disciplinary collaborative aspect brings together creatives from the worlds of food, art, fashion, music and more to create one-of-a-kind experiences. (And, full-disclosure, Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macau is psyched to be its exclusive media partner.)

To honor its first anniversary in spectacular style, Regent Phu Quoc is throwing a lavish celebration at Taste Studio. It promises to be four nights of sophistication and culture that will draw Southeast Asia’s epicureans and tastemakers to the Vietnamese island destination.

Epic in scope, the multisensory and immersive dining experience is called The Dialogue Between its Land, its Sea, and its People. The event blends fine dining, high fashion, and blissful music by some of Vietnam’s most creative forces.

Every evening of the celebration, which runs from April 19-22, is divided into a seven-chapter narrative that weaves together virtuoso performances from members of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, exhibition and craftsmanship by local pearl artisans from Ngoc Hien pearl farm, and a dazzling display from pioneering fashion designer Devon Nguyen.

The designer made waves in the fashion world and was among the first Vietnamese creatives to show at Paris Fashion Week during the Spring/Summer 2018 season. The vibrant artist impressed A-listers and fashionistas with a collection showcasing ingenious techniques for applying sequins and gemstones to striking silhouettes.

Another pioneer, Ngoc Hien is one of the few local pearl brands on Phu Quoc, combining sea cultured farming with state-of-the-art Japanese tech to create the most exquisite specimens of this beloved symbol of the island.

This dream team of creatives joins forces with imaginative chefs to create an immersive theatrical experience that pays homage to Phu Quoc and shines a light on its beauty, traditions, and culinary legacy.

The Dialogue Between its Land, its Sea, and its People begins with an introduction called “Symbiosis,” which takes inspiration from the land and sea and their interpretations in cuisine and art.

Next, the attendees move to the resort’s signature restaurant, Oku, for chapters two through six, along with protagonists Rose Myrtle Flowers and Pearls. These immersive segments explore Phu Quoc’s seasons, nature and marine life to present a landscape of musical entertainment, fashion and gastronomy.

During the episodes at Oku, the fashion designer will join musicians from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and Regent Phu Quoc’s own culinary masters to present a multi-layered, sensorial and epicurean experience designed to captivate imaginations.

An Instant Hit

Regent Phu Quoc has only been open a year but its relaxing atmosphere, serious design credentials, and service-oriented staff have made it an instant hit with guests.

The chic contours of the property are the brainchild of the cutting-edge designers at Blink Design Group. The result is unmistakably modern, with concepts inspired by the bovi bracket, a traditional structure of Vietnamese architecture.

The bovi bracket theme provides a sense of place and is echoed throughout the hotel, where simple, elegant exteriors meet soothing interior design. Each of the all-villa and suite resort’s guest rooms is a masterful expression of taste, wrapping inhabitants in luxurious comfort.

But it’s not just the design that makes Regent Phu Quoc special, it’s the people. The hotel team has perfected the art of impeccable but unobtrusive service and is the heart and soul of the property, filling this resort with character that can’t be matched and promising this first anniversary is just a taste of what’s to come.

To learn more about the event, which is limited to 20 attendees per evening, contact (+84) 297 388 0000 or regent.phuquoc@ihg.com. Packages start at VND 28,888,000 for a one-night stay inclusive of the Regent Taste Studio event for two guests.

Travel+Leisure SEA is thrilled to be the media partner of the first-ever Regent Taste Studio at Regent Phu Quoc, an innovative and multisensory artistic immersion and dining journey in celebration of the resort’s first birthday.
