AirAsia Malaysia has re-launched more flights to China after the latter dropped its COVID-19 restrictions for international travellers. These routes are from Kuala Lumpur to the southern regions of China and will be made operational June onwards. Celebrating the resumption of services, the airline has announced a 20 percent off on all flights flying across 130 destinations.
And, this is not all. The Malaysian carrier may soon add even more routes to its existing schedule, according to its CEO.
“China remains a key market for our future growth and we will continue to review a number of other potential Chinese routes that we hope to be in a position to announce soon,” AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat said in a press statement.
Additionally, these routes will also witness an uptick in the frequency of flights. “As China is rapidly bouncing back, we expect to launch even more flights to/from the country as well as increasing frequency on the most popular and profitable routes within our network in the short to medium term,” Benyamin Ismail, the CEO of AirAsia X, Malaysian airline’s sister company, added.
More details on these flights to China
Expanding the already existing network of 15 routes and 129 weekly flights between China and Malaysia, the airline is set to reopen flight operations on Quanzhou, Guilin and Chengdu routes.
The port city of Quanzhou will see flight operations back on from June 18, 2023, operating twice weekly. Then in July, the budget airline will relaunch flights to Chengdu (July 1) and Guilin (July 18).
Earlier, the AirAsia flight to Chengdu was operational from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, but now it will be operating from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport instead.
Strengthening its position on routes between the two countries, AirAsia Malaysia (AK) will also be resuming daily services from Kota Kinabalu city in Malaysia to Wuhan in China’s Hubei province.
