A vacation should make you feel relaxed and renewed. And that’s why it’s time to head straight to Iceland, home to the most relaxing tourist attraction in the world.

Spa Seekers, a website dedicated to helping people find the best spa experiences, conducted new research to find the most “serene destination in every country.” It determined its rankings by accounting for the number of times the word “relaxing” was used on online travel reviews. The result with the most mentions of “relaxing” was then named the top location for each country.

The analysis purposefully excluded “purpose-built wellness facilities,” including hotels and spas, to keep things fair. Then, the top spots in every country were ranked both globally and regionally to suss out which spot is indeed the world’s most relaxing. And that winner was none other than Iceland’s Blue Lagoon.

“Iceland’s Blue Lagoon is a world-famous geothermal spa located just under an hour away from the island’s capital Reykjavik,” the company shared in its findings, noting the lagoon has 40,50 mentions using the word “relaxing” in online reviews. “It offers geothermal waters alongside stunning natural scenery and luxurious spa facilities, including saunas, steam baths, and an array of spa treatments utilising the Blue Lagoon’s iconic white mud. The geothermal seawater of the pools has long been the subject of scientific research, with the algae plants and white silica-rich mud both proven to aid skin barrier function, stimulate collagen, skin renewal, and deep cleansing – so make sure to take advantage of a mud mask if you do visit.”

In a statement provided to Travel + Leisure, Spa Seekers noted that thermal pools really raked in the high marks, with Hungary’s Széchenyi Baths and Pool, England’s Thermae Bath Spa, and the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools in New Zealand all taking spots among the top 10 most relaxing destinations. Outdoor green spaces ranked highly as well, with France’s Luxembourg Gardens, Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, and the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria in Australia making the list of top 25 spots.

As for the most relaxing continent, that went to Europe, which is home to six of the top 10 destinations. Europe was followed by North America with eight spots in the top 25, including Costa Rica’s Tabacon Hot Springs, Canada’s Stanley Park, and Strawberry Park Hot Springs in the United States.
